Big Tamil releases are set to entertain OTT viewers this year.

Netflix, on Wednesday, announced nine Tamil films that will be streaming on the OTT giant in 2024 post-theatrical release. The list of popular films includes Ajith’s Vidaa Muyarchi, Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, and Vikram’s Thangalaan, which will stream on its platform in 2024 after their theatrical release. On the occasion of Pongal, the OTT giant unveiled an array of Tamil films as part of its licensed content for 2024. Speaking about the upcoming line-up, Monika Shergill, VP – Content, Netflix, shared, “Adding to the festive cheer of Pongal, we are excited to share a promising line-up of blockbuster entertainment from the finest makers of the Tamil industry. Last year, films like Leo, Thunivu, and Maamannan brought immense joy to our members in India and across the globe. The viewing of South content on Netflix has increased by 50% YoY, and with the addition of these new films, we promise to make every night a blockbuster night for our members.”
Here is the list of Tamil films to look forward to in 2024 on Netflix:
Vidaa Muyarchi
Ajith Kumar’s Tamil action thriller is produced by Lyca Productions. Made under the direction of Magizh Thirumeni, the film’s music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
Revolver Rita
A Tamil drama, Revolver Rita is set to hit theatres on April 30, 2024. The music of the film has been composed by Vinoth Rajkumar, whereas K Chandru took charge to helm the film. Headlined by Keerthi Suresh, the film has generated immense buzz among audiences.
Indian 2
The upcoming Tamil action film directed by S Shankar features superstar and legendary actor Kamal Haasan as Senapathy. The film is a sequel to 1996 released Indian and follows the life of an ageing freedom fighter who turns into a vigilante fighting corruption.
Maharaja
Maharaja is Vijay Sethupati’s 50th film. It is directed by Nithilan Swaminathan. The film starring Mamta Mohandas and Natarajan Subramaniam is produced under the banner of Passion Studios and The Route banner.
Conjuring Kannappan
This horror comedy film made it to theatres in December 2023. Directed by Selvin Raj Xavier, the film stars Sathish and Regina Cassandra. It will be streaming on the OTT giant soon.
Sivakarthikeyan 21
Directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy and produced by Raaj Kamal Films International and Sony Pictures Films India, this upcoming drama features Sai Pallavi and Sivakarthikeyan as female and male protagonists respectively. GV Prakash Kumar will be composing the music for the film.
Thangalaan
Thangalaan is slated to release this year in April. The upcoming Tamil action drama is directed by Pa Ranjith. Starring Vikram and Pasupathy, Thangalaan is one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year.
