Football brownies are the best addition to your football game. This is my favorite brownie recipe, and the best part is it’s just a few simple steps and is quick enough that it’ll have you ready for game time.

It uses brownie mix to save you time in the kitchen and allow you to enjoy yourself with friends and family on game day.

This is how you can make the best Super Bowl party dessert ever! Make sure to scroll down to the recipe card for the full detailed instructions!

  1. Make the brownie according to the instructions on the boxed brownie mix box or you can also follow the instructions here to make the better version using egg yolks, coffee, and butter!
  2. Allow the brownies to cool down fully before using a football cookie cutter and cutting your brownies.
  3. If they are soft, place them on a parchment-lined cookie sheet then put them in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to make them easier to handle.
  4. In a medium bowl add the chocolate chips and top that with the hot heavy cream.
  5. Allow that to sit together covered for a few minutes then whisk the chocolate mixture to combine and create a smooth chocolate ganache.
  6. Dip the top of the brownies in the warm chocolate ganache then place back in the baking sheet. Repeat until done.
  7. Make the football design indentation with the melted white chocolate. Allow the brownies to sit in the fridge to set before servings.

If you want brownies that are a little higher you can use this same recipe but made in an 8×8-inch or a 9×9-inch pan. You will have fewer football brownies depending on how bug or small your cookie cutter is but this will all depend on your own personal preference.

Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ

What are the best brownie mixes to use for this recipe?

Some of my favorites are:

  • Ghirardelli- This one is the best one out there. It had delicious chocolate flavors and was rich, fudgy, and chewy all at the same time.
  • Pillsbury – This one is the runner-up to the Guirardelli. It is a tad cheaper but still tastes pretty good.

How to Store these football brownies?

You can store these brownies in an airtight container or in a Ziploc bag with a good seal. Place in the fridge for up to a week.

Do you feel like making a big batch once and having it last throughout the season?

Wrap each individual piece of brownie in plastic wrap and make sure it’s tight so no air can come in. Then put them in an airtight container or Ziploc bag and store it in the freezer. It should last the whole season like this.

What should I do with the brownie edge scraps?

You can use those to snack on, use on top of ice cream, or even make a brownie milkshake with those!

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350F then line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper and set aside. For thicker brownies, you can bake your brownies in an 8×8-inch pan or a 9×9-inch pan according to the instructions on the box.

  • In a large bowl combine the brownie mix, oil, coffee, and the egg and whisk until combined. Pour into the prepared baking pan and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

1 box brownies, ½ cup oil, ⅓ cup hot coffee, 1 egg

  • Allow the brownies to cool down fully before using a football cookie cutter and cutting your brownies into football-shaped brownies. You can use a small football cookie cutter or a larger one depending on preference.

  • If they are soft, place them on a parchment-lined cookie sheet then put them in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to make them easier to handle.

  • In a medium bowl add the chocolate chips and top that with the hot heavy cream that you microwave for 30-45 seconds. We want it hot but not boiling.

1 cup chocolate chips, ⅓ cup heavy cream

  • Allow that to sit together covered for a few minutes then whisk the chocolate mixture to combine and create a smooth chocolate ganache.

  • Dip the top of the brownies in the warm chocolate ganache then place back in the baking sheet. Repeat until done. Place in the fridge while you melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments. Stir in between to keep the chocolate from burning.

    ⅓ cup white chocolate chips

  • Transfer the white chocolate to a piping bag with the tip cut off or a ziplock bag with the tip cut off and make the football design indentation with the melted white chocolate. Allow the brownies to sit in the fridge to set before servings.
