[expand title=”Butterbeer At Universal Studios” expanded=”true”][expandsub1 title=”Where can I buy Butterbeer at Universal Studios Orlando?”]
In Diagon Alley you can find it at the Leaky Cauldron, The Hopping Pot and The Fountain of Fair Fortune. At Hogsmeade you’ll find it at Three Broomsticks and Hog’s Head Pub. You can also find it at several vending carts.[/expandsub1]
[expandsub2 title=”What types of butterbeer are served?”]Butterbeer at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter can be served either cold with a taste similar to cream soda or frozen as a slush with a butterscotch-like foam on top. It has more recently even been served hot with flavors of butterscotch and shortbread. It can be purchases either in a regular plastic cup or in a collectible mug. [/expandsub2]
[expandsub3 title=”How much does it cost?”]It’s served in cups, about $3 ($4 for frozen) for a disposable cup and about $10 ($11 for frozen) for a hard plastic souvenir stein.[/expandsub3]
[expandsub4 title=”What does the Universal Studios version taste like?”] Universal Studios describes the drink as “reminiscent of shortbread and butterscotch.” It is a butterscotch flavored creme soda drink like a root beer with a whipped cream frothy top. The version sold at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was actually tasted and approved by author J.K. Rowling herself.[/expandsub4]
[expandsub5 title=”How did they go about deciding the recipe to serve at Wizarding World?”] The Vice President and Corporate Executive Chef for Universal Parks & Resorts and his team worked for nearly three years to come up with a recipe for this brew. They even made a trip to Scotland to meet with Harry Potter’s author to discuss it. Since it was going to be served in a theme park, there could be no alcohol and no butteror dairy products of any kind (for those lactose intolerant) in the Butterbeer. Rowling insisted the brew be made with real sugar. It took 15 to 16 tries before the team finally got something that resembled what they were after. The top five were brought to the UK where J.K. Rowling personally tested them finally picking one from the group.[/expandsub5]
