Abstract
This section of the book contains the memoir text of Jean-François-Benjamin Dumont de Montigny. His memoir has remained little known until now. He lead quite an adventurous life, crossing the Atlantic six times between Quebec, Louisiana, Saint-Domingue, and the colonial ports of western France, along the military and commercial circuits that traced the French empire onto the globe.
